Zbto sanitation campaign stresses on hand washing

A one-day CCDU (PHED) IEC campaign and HRD training for WATSAN committee members of communitized villages under TFC and targeted villages was held on March 3 in Zunheboto town hall. EAC Zunheboto Zakabo V Rotokha speaking as chief guest said government was investing in different programmes like communitization so that people should make developmental programme successful and benefit from it. Citing the introduction of hand washing in underdeveloped and developing countries where WHO was able to reduce morbidity rate by 26% and diarrhea deaths by as much as 55% , Er Gwatilo Tep SDO CCDU spoke on seven components of sanitation and emphasized the importance of hand washing before and after meals, before child feeding, after defecation and child excreta disposal. Additional chief engineer Mhondamo Ovung highlighted on objective of the workshop. Er Angwaseng Kent EE CCDU PHED speaking on vital issues of sanitation and said government was making efforts to sanitize all villages in the state by eradicating open defecation by 2012 in line with the national goal set up by government of India.
