NEPED moots centre for climate change studies

A first of its kind ‘mission conclave’ between various missions of Nagaland including Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED), Nagaland Bamboo Mission, Nagaland Bio-Resource Mission and Nagaland Honey & Bee-Keeping Mission was held at Tourist Lodge Mokokchung on Saturday. The conclave mooted for a mission mode program where a Centre for Climate Change Studies (C3S) was under consideration to be set up at Institute of Communication and Information Technology (ICIT) Mokokchung. Disclosing this at a press conference after the conclave, Alemtemshi IAS, Development Commissioner, Temjen Toy IAS Secretary to the government of Nagaland and team leader NEPED and Taj K Verma, deputy team leader NEPED said by setting up Centre (C3S) at ICIT, the facilities of Information Technology would be used as a meeting point so that knowledge in IT would be applied in farming method and process. It was also disclosed that C3S would be set up with collaboration of GTC (German Technical Corporation) and KFW (German Development Bank). Basically, the centre would act as a point of convergence where study will be focused on global climate change adaptation of farmers.
