In a series of cases which took place within the past one week, Dimapur police arrested several people on charges for various crimes.
In the first case, one person identified as Hothoshe resident of Burma Camp was arrested on March for child trafficking after a complaint was lodged by the father of a thirteen year old boy, working as a domestic help.
According to the FIR lodged at East Police station, the father alleged that he was not allowed to meet his son by the accused for the past two years. Based on the complaint, police went and rescued the minor from the residence of the accused and on further questioning, the accused revealed the identity of four more minors out of which one was rescued.
Meanwhile, ‘ss’ Raja Peyu of GPRN/NSCN was apprehended by Assam Rifle personnel on Sunday while collecting illegal taxes from the trucks plying on Shokuvi road. A sum of Rs 21, 060 in cash was recovered from his possession.
In another case, an FGN cadre identified as Khekavi (25) was apprehended by police on Tuesday around 6 pm while extorting money from some business establishments located near Co-operative bank.
Another person identified as Akenito was arrested by the police on March 6 from Khermahal area while trying to extort money from shops. Three live rounds of AK 47 ammunition was recovered from his possession.
One person identified as Inaka Sema was also apprehended from Blue Hill station area by IRB personnel on March 6 evening while showing off a country made .22 pistol. Four live rounds of .22 ammunition and one empty case were also recovered from his possession.
A soft top Gypy was seized from 5th mile area on Monday evening after an input was received that the chassis and engine number of the vehicle was tampered. The driver of the vehicle identified as Lot San was also arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, an employee of Raja Rani online lottery identified as Suraj Singh was apprehended by the police after a compliant was lodged against him for misappropriating a sum of Rs 60, 000.
25 persons from various hotels and restaurants were arrested in joint raid by the police and district administration on Monday for using domestic cylinder. The raid carried out under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Anoop Kinchu IAS and seized a total of 34 cylinders.
While in another case, one person identified as Mahesh was arrested by the police on March 3 from Ghorapatti for adulteration and a total of 440 liters of adulterated petrol and 500 liters of diesel was seized.
