Reacting to the news item ‘GPRN/NSCN cautions AR’ appearing in some local dailies on April 7, Assam Rifles has clarified that statement of GPRN/NSCN on the ‘so-called’ raid by AR personnel allegedly on the residence of SS Maj Ghuito Sumi was ‘factually incorrect’.
Assam Rifles PRO IGAR (N) in a statement clarified that the house was not raided but searched along with the police, wherein a pistol and parts of weapons systems which could be used to assemble additional weapons were recovered.
The PRO said that individuals were not identity card holders as per the list issued by the CFMG and therefore handed over to police to be dealt with as per the laws of the land.
He stated that keeping arms concealed otherwise in a populated area or movement of any cadre in uniform outside designated camps with or without arms outside designated camps were clear violations of the CFGRs and warranted appropriate action by the Security forces who were committed to maintain peace by ensuring implementation of the CFGRs He further urged all factions to refrain from CFGR violations in order to ensure peace in the state.
