KOHIMA: Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB, Longleng C. K .Nihekhu has informed all Longleng DPDB members that in view of the special DPDB meeting scheduled on April 20 at Phom People Council Hall at 11 am, special consultation meeting of the DPDB members with NGOs leaders of the district on April 9,11am at the DC Conference Hall, Longleng. BCA, BBA exam routine
DIMAPUR: Nagaland University has declared the exam routine for BCA and BBA three year integrated degree examination. The examination for BCA would start on April 26 and BBA on April 27. Practical exam would be conducted from May 11.

LSU workshop on career guidance
KOHIMA: The Lhisemia Students’ Union (LSU), Kohima Village will be organizing a workshop on career guidance for its members on April 12, 9.30 am at KVC Hall, Kohima. NCRC yearly fasting programme
DIMAPUR: The yearly fasting programme of NCRC Sumi Women Department will be held from May 26 to 28 at Pughoboto Prayer Centre. All NCRC Sumi women leaders and Women Standing Committee members have been informed to attend the fasting programme and to reach venue on May 25.
Gutkas worth Rs.10,000 seized
KOHIMA: Zadima Students’ Union (ZSU) conducted surprise checking in Zadima village on April 2 and seized large quantities of ‘gutkas’ worth Rs.10,000/. The ‘gutkas’ were later destroyed in presence of village elders. ZSU Publicity & Information Secretary Seyiekhrielhou Kuotsu informed that defaulters were penalized with a sum of Rs.5000/- as laid down by the union.

DIMAPUR: Deputy Inspector of School Peren has informed government and registered Private Schools under its establishment in Peren to collect NBSE data/statistics forms. Form No. 1, 70 and 90 and submit it to office of DIS Peren on April 16.

DIMAPUR: Eastern Naga People’ Union has convened a joint meeting of tribal units Kohima based, ENWOK and ENPUK on April 10, 10 a.m at DUDA guest house. All members and office bearers have been informed to attend the meeting.
TUENSANG: GPRN/ NSCN Yimchunger region has informed that the three cadres 2nd Lieut. Rikhum Yim, S/O Keoshu of Shipongrü village, bearing A/N 16492, L/C Berimong son of Thsanso of Showuba bearing A/N 15993, Sgt. Maj, Tomukam son of Thrünso bearing A/N 14641 from Chessore town, will be kept under observance for three months. According GPRN/NSCN, this decision has been taken after they were found neglecting in the duties of the government.
DIMAPUR: Rajya Sabha MP, Khekiho Zhimomi and NPF Ghaspani-I President, Kughalu Aye and all party workers of the constituency have expressed grief at the demise of Toshiho Sumi, Diphupar unit NPF youth president, who passed away on April 6. Describing Toshiho as an energetic youth leader, who worked for the party with full enthusiasm, both Rajya Sabha MP and Ghaspani-I A/C president stated that Tohisho’s demise has created a vacuum in the party. NPF leaders conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty to grant them solace and strength to bear the loss.
Disaster management training
DIMAPUR: One day intensive Disaster Management Training for Forester-I to D.C.F level of the Forest Department would be organized on April 13 at Forest Office Complex Conference Hall, Dimapur. Training and Mock Drill will be given by the official of the Home Guard and other resource persons from the forest department. T. Lotha IFS, C.C.F has requested all the D.F.Os to attend the training with their executive staff and reach the venue by 9am.
1 held on possession of contraband
MOKOKCHUNG: Personnel of excise Mokokchung arrested one person on Tuesday for possession of banned drugs. The team led by Inspector Moa, and constables Tiatemsu, Toshihe and Aoneken acting on a tip off regarding smuggling/selling of banned medicine drugs in Mokokchung town arrested Temjennungba of Mokokchung for possessing 488 nos. of SP capsules. The Superintendent of Excise Mokokchung, L. Wati Jamir in an official release added that the arrested person has been booked U/S D&C Act 1940 and have been forwarded to the court. The department also sought cooperation from general public on information regarding illegal activities.
KVK prog on future commodity market
DIMAPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima in association with MITCOM Consultancy Services Limited Maharashtra, conducted a day long awareness programme on Future Commodity Market at Ziphenyu village community hall on April 6. According to a press note, around 40 participants from ziphenyu village, Tesophenyu village, farmers’ club members and farmers attended the programme which was sponsored by Forward Market Commission, Mumbai. The resource person were Zheite and Longma yanger from KVK, Kohima who highlighted on marketing management, derivatives, spot market, forward market, future market and its application for marketing challenges.
Inauguration of Covenant Baptist Church
DIMAPUR: Covenant Baptist Church will be inaugurated on April 11, 3 p.m at Rev. Longri Memorial Building, NMM Compound, 316, Fellowship Colony. General Secretary of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikung will dedicate the Church and also be the inaugural Speaker. Regular worship service will start 4 p.m every Sunday.

ENPU general meeting
DIMAPUR: To develop mutual coordination among Eastern Naga people based in Peren town and adjoining areas, Eastern Naga Peoples Union (ENPU) was formed where S.Y. Sangtam was elected as convener till a full-fledged body was elected. In this connection ENPU, Peren town has convened a general meeting/inaugural conference on April 13, 3pm at the residence of Mar located behind SBI branch, Peren at Kelatzei colony, Peren town. All Eastern Naga people based in Peren town and adjoining areas have been informed to attend the meeting.

Absence of staff at electrical dept Changtongya
DIMAPUR: Taking serious note of absence of staff in department of electrical division Changtongya, executive engineer electrical R.W. Odyuo has informed staff absent from work ‘since long’ to report for duty before April 15. The engineer also added that though explanation call was issued to absent staff no response was received.
Executive engineer cautioned that details of the absent staff will be published in local dailies on failing to report at stipulated date.
Help lines launched for senior citizens in Mon
DIMAPUR: Commemorating the International day of older persons in Mon, DC Mon Dinesh Kumar IAS inaugurated district level help lines for senior citizens at a programme organised by department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Mon District Administration. According to a press note, the DC exhorted the gathering to continue to contribute towards development of the society with their experience and wisdom and also reduce inter-generational gap. He also presented awards to two senior citizens, SP. Ellen Konyak and Rev. Chingang Konyak in recognition of their commendable services towards the people of Mon district. Meanwhile, K. Wango Langsym, CDPO Wakching highlighted various schemes offered by government and other private sectors for the benefit of senior citizens and also urged the gathering to create such awareness. Dr. Leamnyei, senior MO Civil Hospital spoke on the importance of good health and Thanglong Yanlem, Ex-MLA and Lomei, V.P KNSK were the other speakers. Further, the programme was followed by walkathon from DC office to Civil Hospital which was led by SDO (Civil) Mon accompanied by students from various schools. A free medical checkup for senior citizens was also conducted at Civil Hospitals which was followed by a visit to old age home.
RC peace scholarship, free eye screening
DIMAPUR: Rotary Club (RC) of Dimapur has invited interested candidates for undergoing peace scholarship programme aboard. Applicants are to collect forms from Rotary Centre, Midland Dimpaur from 10 am to 4pm. The club has fixed April 15 as the last date of submission and interview will be on April 21, 11 am at Rotary Centre, Dimapur. Rotary Club will also be organizing a free eye screening and cataract operation in the first week of May. Interested persons have been informed to register names at - Rotary Centre Midland, Dimapur (10 am to 4 pm); Medicare Health Home, Kalibari Road Dimapur and Dr. B. L. Agarwal Nursing Home, Golaghat Road, Dimapur. The last date of registration is April 30.

PGSU urges VC to shift HQ
KOHIMA: Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) Kohima campus has urged the Vice Chancellor Nagaland University, as per his commitment, to shift the campus to Lumami headquarter latest by April 10.
In a letter addressed to the VC, the PGSU stated that as per commitment made by VC on March 10 at his chamber Lumami, the students were eagerly looking forward for smooth functioning of academic classes with all the necessary facilities and equipments. Classes for all the departments would commence from April 12 and the PGSU has requested the authority to provide transportation for 399 students.
