Just as in the mid-90s when news of idols drinking milk spread like wildfire, a similar situation has developed sending people digging for “charcoal-like substance ” at their residence premises.
The rumor spread that a one-day old baby born in the civil hospital told parents to dig at the right side of the kitchen fire places for a charcoal-like substance. It was rumored that the baby had asked the substance to be soaked in water before 12 noon and all those below 15 years to drink the water otherwise, they will die.
Though the identity of the baby or how the rumor started could not be ascertained but there were hectic calls from far away places such as Tuensang, Mokokchung and Kohima where callers said many households reported having discovered “charcoal” near their fireplaces.
Meanwhile, Dr. Temsu of Dimapur civil hospital dismissed the news as rumor as no such incident was reported in the hospital. He appealed the citizens not spread the rumor as it was totally baseless and unfounded.
