Preserve traditional values: Imchen

Home minister Imkong L. Imchen on Thursday urged the Konyak people to produce cultural specialty and preserve uniqueness of traditional cultural values. Addressing the Konyak community at the second day of Aoleang- cum -road show the minister said road show was a platform to display and expose to the world, the unique traditional cultural practices handed down the generation by forefathers.
Imchen marveled the rostrum constructed with indigenous materials in the shape of the traditional head gear of an Angh, which might probably be the biggest thatch rostrum in the world and termed it as ‘architectural marvel’ showing the workmanship of the Konyaks. ACS & Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi while extending Aoleang greetings urged the Konyaks to fill the gaps of modernization to get along with other Naga tribes.
He also said that Konyaks were from time immemorial innovative, constructive, creative and capable, which was all being proved at Aoleang festival. Joseph Lalhum MLA & Deputy Chairman High Power Committee, Government of Mizoram who also spoke on the occasion conveyed Aoleang greetings and also expressed happiness to be amongst the midst.
The highlights of the programme included log drum beating, Aoleang cultural songs and dances, cultural troupes from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar also presented their cultural songs and dances. The programme was chaired by Advisor DUDA, E.E. Pangteang while vote of thanks was proposed by ADC Planning, Mon, Those Angami.
