Additional Deputy Commissioner Mangkolemba, Temsu Ao has sought intervention of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung for early completion of Tsurangkong Government High School building at Watiyim which was on the verge of collapsing.
ADC who has drawn the attention of the members of DPDB in its monthly meeting held on April 7 in the DC’s conference hall disclosed that students had requested for renovation of the old building. Temsu Ao, who is also the chairman of the Tsurangkong Government High School Managing Committee, said the old building, in which classes were conducted, would have been collapsed had Changtongya and Akhoya type storm wind occurred in the area. He said the new building, which was under construction was going at snail’s pace despite the fact that government had awarded the contract work to a local contractor. He also disclosed that the estimated cost of the new building was Rs.45 lacs. To meet the cost over run, government later revised to Rs.60 lacs, yet the building was far from completion, ADC added.
As such, ADC Mangkolemba strongly urged the DPDB to take up the matter with the concern authorities to see that the building was completed at the earliest. The DC Mokokchung and Vice Chairman of the DPDB assured to take up the issue with the authorities.
