Late Catholic priest Joachim Minj laid to rest

The mortal remains of late Fhe mortal remains of late Fr. Joachim Minj SDB who passed away on April 7 at RC Agarwal Cardiological Centre, Tinsukia was laid to rest in a religious ceremony officiated by Rt. Rev. Joseph Aind, Bishop of Dibrugarh and assisted by Fr. James Poonthuruthil, Salesian provincial of Dimapur province, and Fr. Ethelbert Minj, vice provincial of Guwahati province along with large presence of priests, religious, faithfuls held at Salesian College, Dimapur on Friday.
Presiding over the funeral mass in honour of late Fr. Joachim Minj, Bishop Joseph Aind DD SDB lauded late Fr. Joachim for his dedicated service to the people of God especially in Golaghat, Jagun, Tongna, and Tinsukia all of which fall in the Diocese of Dibrugarh administered by him.
Fr. James Poonthuruthil, provincial, in his funeral oration, described the sudden death of Fr. Joachim Minj as a shocking news especially for all those who knew him. Fr. Mathew Pulingathil SDB, a teacher and guide of late Fr. Joachim Minj, for many years, described him as a hospitable, cordial, friendly person, who was conscious of the importance of personal relationships.
Other personalities who spoke include Fr. Ethelbert Minj, SDB, represented the Guwahati, Fr Jonhy N, of Kolkota Province, Fr. Anto Tharakan. Glowing tributes were paid by student representatives of Don Bosco School, Tinsukia, where Fr. Joachim was the Headmaster till his death, Catholic Community reprehensive of Golaghat, where Fr. Joachim served as pastor for six long years.
