MSUD enlightens students on career options

Merangkong Students’ Union Dimapur (MSUD) conducted a career guidance seminar for students of Class 9 and above at Forest Training Centre, Dimapur on Saturday. Topics on ‘youth and education’, ‘career planning’, ‘career prospects’, and ‘importance of professional courses’ were discussed at length with School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD) NU assistant professors Dr. N. Tiameren and L. Tongpang Longkumer as resource persons of the programme. Lists of top 10 engineering, medical, law, science, commerce and arts colleges in India were detailed to participants while options for competition exams such as National Defense Academy, National Institute of Design, National Institute of Fashion Technology/Designing, BBA, Hotel Management, Computer Applications and Airlines were also elaborated.
The resource persons also outlined on making the right career choice with emphasis on employment opportunities in various fields including journalism, advertising, entrepreneurship, secretarial work, performing arts, travel and tourism. Importance of career and steps in career planning process and basic guide on preparing to appear for different tests required for foreign universities were also accounted for students aspiring to go overseas for further studies.
The seminar, attended by around 60 students was chaired by Abacus teacher, Meyirenla and prayer for the programme was proposed by MTT convener, Alemla.
