Rio launches Nokia 2690 in the state

Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio formally launched the new Nokia handset Model 2690 at Nokia Dealers’ Meet organized by Eastern Enterprises (ER) RDS at Niathu Resort, Dimapur Saturday evening.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Rio lauded EE, Nokia regional sales team and dealers on promoting the brand in the region. While recalling that mobile phones were first launched in Nagaland in 2003 by the then Indian Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, Rio said mobile phones have become part and parcel of the lives of the Nagas. He also asserted that he himself was a patron and user of Nokia phones and maintained that their ‘user-friendly’ features proved convenience for all groups of people with Nokia India being accredited as the most trusted brand in the country for two consecutive years.
He expressed appreciation on learning that Nokia customer care centers have expanded in Dimapur and Kohima and wished the state team to achieve more goals in the future. Calling upon local business fraternity to enterprise and invest on trusted fields of the national market, Rio also encouraged Naga entrepreneurs to pick up on various businesses and cultivate their skills underlining the state government’s conceptualization on 2010 as the year of entrepreneurs.
During the launching programme, guest of honour for the evening, Nokia regional sales manager Jayesh Ullatil announced winners of the regional promoters Eastern Enterprises RDS directors Dr. John Murry and Basu Damani who were awarded Fiat Punto cars for their services.
The newly launched Nokia 2690 dubbed as “common man’s hi-tech” mobile features 1.8”TFT large screen, camera with recording, FM radio with MP3 player, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, opera mini browser, NLT, Ovi mail and has expandable memory up to 8GB. The phone would be available at local markets from April 11.
The programme was attended by Forest minister, M.C. Konyak; Education minister, Nyeiwang Konyak; parliamentary secretaries, Y. Patton and Azheto Zhimomi, NIDC chairman MLA, Nuklutoshi; Nokia area sales managers, Debabrata Paul and Hari from Kokata including dealers and sales promoters of the state.
