Leaders of the CPI (ML), Hills Party committee conducted a press meet at its office premises on Saturday to express the party’s view on the support shown by ASDC – MLA in the recently concluded Upper House election of the State to Congress candidate S. Kondopan.
The press conference was presided by Selwar Bey, president, CPI (ML) HPC, the important gathering was attended by Laichan Engleng, secretary, KSA central committee, Protima Enghipi, secretary, KNCA and Daniel Teron, secretary, KANKIS.
The Leftist leaders said that the step taken by Jagat Sing Engti, ASDC MLA to cast his vote in favour of Congress candidate in the Upper house election of the state was nothing but a “ploy” to misguide the mass populace of Karbi Anglong.
They also termed the state government’s decision to form a Cabinet committee to review the demand for Autonomous State for Karbi Anglong as nothing new but rather a “conspiracy” to derail the popular statehood movement.
The Leftist leaders viewed that state government cannot grant Auto state for Karbi Anglong but can only approve the same from their end. The leaders questioned the state government’s silence on the issue.
