With an aim to provide free Eri yarn spinning training to farmers in the district, a post cocoon cell was launched at district sericulture office Mokokchung.
The cell was inaugurated by Amenla SDO(C) on April 9. The inaugural function was chaired by Bendang T.Jamir, DSO Mokokchung. Deputy director of sericulture, Imtisosang in his keynote address, stressed on the importance and scope of post cocoon activities for the rural masses and SHGs, its potential for self employment and marketing prospect of finished silk products. Others who spoke on the occasion included deputy project director ATMA and chairman of Kumlong ward.
The programme was attended by trainees and members from community spinning and weaving units (SHG) of Mokokchung district.
