Arms seized in Manipur

Another huge consignment of arms was seized in Manipur on April 11 at 7 am. Troops of 37 AR of 26 sector under IGAR (S), manning a mobile check post a Joupi stopped a vehicle whose occupants were behaving in a suspicious manner and recovered two Lethode Bombs, 296 rounds of 7.62, 48 rounds of AK-47, 39 rounds of M-16, 59 rounds of 9mm (US Carbine), 58 rounds of Country made weapons, one mobile camera phone, illegal wooden logs (Burmese Teak), Kunta vehicle regd No MN-01-7595 with cash Rs 32,700. According to a defence release, those apprehended were identified as Thangjalet (30), s/o Thongphou, L Chandra Singh (45) s/o L Tomba Singh, Saiboy, (20) were handed over to Imphal west police. In an another incident, upon discovering the presence of UG cadres in Thongju area, troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) launched operation in the area and apprehended a PULF cadre Sunday afternoon. The PULF was identified as Md Iboyai (35) s/o Md Abdul Zalil. He was later handed over to Kakwa Police station. In yet another incident, troops of 12 Maratha LI of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) launched operation in general area Paubitek and apprehended one KCP (MC) cadre Sunday morning identified as Md Shabir Ahmad (18) s/o MD Hafiz Bashir Ahmad.
