Kiphire District Planning & Development Board meeting was held on April 12 at the DC’s office under the chairmanship of state chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
Addressing the Board members for the first time Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said government had declared the current year as ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’ targeting the public and genuine entrepreneurs. He lamented on the absence of officers in their place of posting and said the government would not tolerate negligence and erring officials not performing their duties. Pointing out that Kiphire district ranked lowest in literacy the state at 49.42% he said that government would take all necessary measures in education. He said that government was stressing on quality control for development works taken up in all districts. and asked people of Kiphire to make use of natural resources. He further assured that NST service between Kiphire and Tuensang would be resumed soon.
Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Chumben highlighted the scientific method of farming to achieve food sufficiency in the state. Minister for Roads & Bridges, Kaito Aye emphasised on the need for proper implementation of PMGSY scheme. Deliberating on various agenda the house approved BRGF scheme proposals and recommended up-gradation of Eastern Christian English School from Class 8 to Class 10 to department. A memorandum from three Tribal Unions was also submitted to the Chief Minister. .
The meeting also decided that the incomplete building of Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire would be completed this year and concluded with vote of thanks from the Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman Kiphire DPDB, Y. Liremo.
