DMC appeal for more cooperation

The Sanitation Branch of the Dimapur Municipal Council has sought more cooperation from public in keeping Dimapur city hygienic and neat.
The staff of sanitation branch in a meeting with Administrative Office (AO) of DMC, Nikhashe Sumi on Wednesday at its office complex spelled out desire for more public support to keep the city clean.
Staff of the sanitation branch in one voice stated that despite performing one of the dirtiest and unhygienic jobs all year round scavenging garbage to give Dimapur a healthier look, and was always at the receiving end of criticism.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, a senior sanitation inspector pointed out that encroachment and construction over drainages and nullahs were one of the main reasons why drainages were clogged thereby preventing free flow of waste water.
On sweeping and garbage collection, one of the staff reiterated that public hardly followed instructions of the DMC and dump waste/garbage according to their convenience and also appealed to the public not to dump garbage from 6 a.m. till 6p.m.
Stating that attending to the problem of the public was the main priority of the DMC Sanitation Branch, Nikhashe Sumi appealed to the public to support and cooperate with the DMC to able them to give better service to the public.
Meanwhile, the sanitation staff has lauded the effort of Nikhashe Sumi for effectively leading the DMC as AO and for guiding the staff with valuable advices.
