District Congress Committee (DCC) Mokokchung has demanded the government to immediately revoke the Mokokchung municipal advisory board (MMAB) and reconstitute it by increasing number of members from respective Ao ranges to make it more “stronger and better.”
The DCC has also criticised what was termed as “unnecessary” celebration of road shows. DCC president I. Nungkum Jamir and general secretary I. Tia Longkumer, in a joint press statement, said celebration of road shows during Moatsu festival was “anti-traditional” and against beliefs. They said Moatsu was celebrated after sowing was over and asking God for abundant harvest.
They said that the road shows coinciding with traditional festivals only created social evils and therefore, objected to road show during Moatsü festival. They termed road shows as “fruitless and meaningless,” and said principles such as “Nagaland for Christ” and “dry state” were all diminishing.
The DCC Mokokchung also supported the NSF demands on teacher scam.
The signatories also reposed confidence in the leadership of NPCC president I.Imkong and CLP leader Tokheho to “eradicate the rampant corruption and mismanagement” of the DAN government. These were resolved at the meeting of the party members on April 15.
