‘Edufest’, a two-day event and the first of its kind in Nagaland organized by the State Bank of India in the state and the 8th in the region began at the Indoor Stadium here today.
Altogether, 39 different reputed institutions and universities from across the country are participating in the Edufest. Various institutions have set up their stalls to showcase courses and packages on offer to all visitors. Many of the stall offered on-the-spot career counseling with power point presentations, video and slight show apart from distributing information sheets, brochures and pamphlet.
On the first day Friday, anxious parents and students trickled in to obtain information they sought from various stalls. Though the participants and visitors were happy, yet the number of people today was thin. Organizers and participants hoped that by Saturday, the crowd will be significant considering it would be a holiday.
In a stall entering names of visitors and their contact numbers, the in-charge said he had more than hundred visitors on the first day itself and hoped that the number would double up tomorrow.
What is more attractive at Edufest is that the SBI offers Education loan for aspiring students who want to pursue professional courses. The amount of loan depended on the type of course the students opted as most of the participating institutions and universities roped in by the State Bank of India in the Edufest are offering professional courses.
