Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM General Officer Commanding in Chief of Eastern Command after taking over the charge on April 1is on a visit to the region.
The General arrived in Dimapur on Monday on his first visit to the region. He was accompanied by his wife who is the president of Regional Family Welfare Organisation of Eastern Command.
The GOC-in-C was received by Lt Gen N K Singh, AVSM, VSM GOC 3 Corps and visiting dignitaries were given traditional Naga welcome at Rangapahar.
The General was briefed on the overall security situation in the region and held detailed discussions relating to security situation in the North East. He lauded the efforts of the troops towards bringing normalcy and contributing towards development of the region through ‘Op Sadbhavana’ and ‘Samaritan’.
Singh urged every one to rededicate themselves and be with the local populace of the region in every possible way and stressed upon the need to keep abreast with the changing technology in view of modernization of Armed Forces.
The regional president of Family Welfare Organisation of Eastern Command interacted with the families at Rangapahar to know about welfare schemes for the families and Children. She encouraged the ladies to utilize facilities of vocational training centre to learn traits that would help them in contributing towards better quality of life of their families.
