GOC-in-C eastern command visits Zakhama

The GOC-in-C, Eastern Command Lt Gen Bikram Singh, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, and Bubbles Singh, Regional President, Family Welfare Organisation (FWO), Eastern Command arrived from Manipur on a two day visit to Nagaland.
The GOC-in-C was accompanied by Lt Gen NK Singh, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, the GOC Spear Corps. On arrival at Zakhama by service helicopter Tuesday, the visiting dignitaries were received by Major General RN Singh, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, the GOC Division and Raka Singh, Convenor of Divisional Family Welfare Organization. They were accorded a traditional Naga welcome at Zakhama helipad, on arrival.
This is the first visit by Lt Gen Bikram Singh to this region, consequent to his assumption of the command of the prestigious Eastern Command of the Army. It is noteworthy that Gen VK Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM was GOC-in-C Eastern Command, prior to his assumption of the appointment of Chief of the Army staff.
The GOC-in-C was briefed by Maj Gen RN Singh, at Division HQ, on operational and various other aspects. Bubbles Singh, accompanied by Raka Singh, Convenor of Divisional Family Welfare Organization visited Shaurya Army Pre-School, at Zakhama military station and lauded imparting of quality education to children of army personnel, as also those of the civilian population residing in neighboring towns and villages. A family welfare meet was also organized at Zakhama wherein Bubbles Singh interacted with the families of army personnel in the station.
A lunch was hosted by the GOC and All offrs and families in honour of the dignitaries, in the officers mess. The GOC-in-C and Bubbles Singh, accompanied by the GOC Spear Corps thereafter departed for Kohima on a visit to the HQ IGAR (North). The visiting dignitaries also paid a courtesy visit to the state minister Neiphiu Rio and paid courtesy to state governor of Nikhil Kumar at Raj Bhawan, Kohima. The GOC-in-C and Bubbles Singh would depart from Kohima on April 21.
