Windshields of over 40 loaded trucks including passenger buses and oil tankers were damaged after protestors pelted stones on vehicles heading to Imphal with security escorts from Mao gate Wednesday. ANSAM has put up road blockade along Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Jiribam national highways, since April 14 last. The convoy, after getting clearance from security personnel, left Mao gate at around 1 p.m. However, the protestors launched attacks on vehicles and damaged the vehicles, in certain areas starting from Makhan till Senapati. Earlier, owing to reports that protestors were planning to push down rocks from hill tops located between Chatumai and Tadubi, the escort team got delayed in leaving Mao gate. Police said a total of 381 trucks (241 loaded trucks, 35 bullet tanker – bulk gas careers – and 107 oil tankers) including six passengers buses were escorted to Imphal.
