CTC chief advisor
DIMAPUR: Advisory committee members of Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) have unanimously elected Thepfulhoutuo Shuya as chief advisor on April 20. The other normal functioning of duties and responsibilities of Advisory Committee would begin on April 23 after induction on April 22. Chief advisor CTC informed that any correspondence and others should be addressed to chief advisor – CTC, Advisory Committee.
FGN warns on illegal tax collection
DIMAPUR: The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) under the aegis of Sumi region authority has found Shivito of Xukihe village, Kiheto Zhimo of Sheipu village, Neilo Zhimo of Sheipu village, Hotovi Awomi of Pihekhu village and Ghuvishe Zhimo of Aghuyito village involved in illegal tax collection without the consent of the authority. In a press statement, Mughato Yeptho, leacy speaker and John Awomi, region secretary FGN Sumi region has warned the named personnel to withdraw from further collection at the earliest or to do it according to their own risk.
Zeliangrong Mepui women sanitation rally
DIMAPUR: Zeliangrong Mepui (women) organization will hold sanitation rally on April 22 at Peren. All Public leaders, students, women organizations Churches, and officers from different departments have been asked to participate in the rally.
Tangkhul Naga Bible CL to be released
DIMAPUR: Bible Society of India (BSI) Dimapur Auxiliary will be releasing Tangkhul Naga Bible revised edition at Ramrei Aze Baptist Church, Ukhrul, Manipur. The Bible would be released by Rev. Dr.Z.K.Rochill Auxiliary Secretary BSI Dimapur auxiliary coinciding with the annual conference of Tangkhul Theological Association.
NAHSSA support 6th ROP demand forum
DIMAPUR: The office bearers in a meeting decided to support the 6th ROP Demand Forum by wearing of black arm bands as per the directive of the Forum from April 22 to 28 April as a sign of protest for non-implementation of revised pay in toto by the state government. In this regard, all the district unit president and sub-divisional action committee members have been requested to make necessary arrangement for making black arm bands and availed to all members.
JDU Zunheboto meeting
DIMAPUR: Janata Dal (United) has convened an emergency meeting on April 25 at 4 pm at the residence of it president, DC hill Zunheboto. All office bearers and executive members have been requested to attend the meet.
ESZTSU meet
DIMAPUR: Eastern Sumi Zunheboto Town Students’ Union (ESZTSU) has convened a meeting on April 24 at 12 noon at the residence of its Union baker . All advisors, executives, and responsible members have been requested not to fix personal programmes on that date and attend the meet.
DYE emergency meeting
DIMAPUR: Dimapur Yanpha Ekhung (DYE) has convened an emergency meeting on April 24 at 10am at the residence of secretary. All the members and executives have been requested to attend the meeting and also to bring along the annual membership fees for the present year.
ANRSAA meeting
DIMAPUR: All Nagaland Regular Sectional Assistant Association (ANRSAA) has convened a meeting on May 14 at 10:30am at PWD housing meeting hall, Kohima. All the district unit chairmen and office bearers have been requested to attend the meeting. Further, all district chairmen and RSA have been informed to submit the yearly membership fees of rupees one hundred to central office maintenance fund and also all regular sectional assistants to arrange their own expenditure.
G. Rio School alumni meet
DIMAPUR: G. Rio School Alumni Association has convened a meeting on April 24, 10 am in the school premises. All past pupils from 2006 batch onwards have been requested to attend the meet.
JKM local planning committee meet
DIMAPUR: The first local planning committee meeting of Japukong Kaketshir Mungdang (JKM) has been convened on May 1, 10 am at Japu village. All members have been requested to bring agendas for the meeting.
Tangshang Naga Students’ Association
DIMAPUR: New association under the name of Tangshang Naga Students’ Association (TNSA). was formed with motto ‘Learn to serve’. The formatipm of the association was held on April 17 and 18 at Naga Restoration cord, Toulazouma Dimapur. With the motive to promote the interest of the students in the field of school education and to preserve the dignity of the students, the association elected 19 members with J. Mutu Muniak as president and Winran Ngaimong as general secretary-cum- finance secretary.
AS volunteers training
DIMAPUR: All NGOs under Zunheboto district who are implementing Alternative Schooling (AS) have been directed to conduct refresher course training to educational volunteers in respective EBRC from April 27. DEO Zunheboto has informed that training expenses would be borne by the implementing NGOs and should be completed before May 10. All NGOs have been directed to coordinate with following EBRCs Aborigines Society EBRC, Zunheboto, Aqo Aho Women Society EBRC Zunheboto, Kivini Humanity Foundation Welfare Society EBRC Zunheboto, Nilo Welfare Society EBRC Akuluto, SABAK Pughoboto EBRC Pughoboto, Valley Hope Society EBRC Pughoboto, SABAK Aizuto EBRC Aghunato and Tukukha Welfare Society EBRC Satakha.
‘Best of the Best’ contest on April 24
DIMAPUR: The ‘Best of the Best’ Nagaland Art fusion contest 2010 will be held on April 24 at Town Hall Dimapur with Deo Nukhu M.L.A and Advisor to S&T, Art & Culture, DNRE as special guest. The judges for the evening include Daniel Engty, lead guitarist Abiogenesis Band, vocalist and guitarist of Tambili folk metal band Diphu Assam, Kausik Nandy X drummer of M. Sonic band Guwahati, present drummer of Jambili folk band Diphu, Asenla Sashi vocalist Higher Ground band Dimapur. Participants have been informed to report to the venue on April 24, 11 am. The programme will start at 2 pm. Organisers also informed that bands would be disqualified if they were found carrying intoxicants.
Mokokchung DPDB meet postponed
DIMAPUR: Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) with Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio scheduled to be held on April 27 has been postponed. According to an official bulletin, the postponement was necessitated following the receipt of revised tour programme of the chief minister. Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung and DPDB Vice Chairman, Lithrongla G. Chishi in a circular said that the fresh date for special DPDB meeting would be intimated after the Mokokchung Road Show.
NASU joint meeting
DIMAPUR: Nihokhu Area Students’ Union (NASU) has convened an emergency joint meeting on April 22 at the residence of its banker, Nihokhu at 10am. Area GBs, VC chairman, teacher in-charge, unit presidents, NASU advisors and executives have been requested to attend the meeting.
Bosco career guidance
DIMAPUR: Don Bosco Alumni Wokha will be organising career counseling and guidance programme on April 24, 10 a.m at Don Bosco Youth Center, Wokha. Resource persons would include R. Vyasan IAS, SDO (Civil) Wokha; Major Vincent Patton, 3rd Assam Regiment; Er. Echungbemo Humtsoe, Suptd Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control; Dr Emmanuel L. Yanthan, Gynecologist and Obstetrician; Abraham Tungoe, development officer, Life Insurance Corporation of India would be the resource persons.
Provincial president F. Pelevitou Solo, commissioner and secretary, higher and technical education would grace the occasion as chief guest. All Class X students both matric appeared and present students from all schools of Wokha district intending for higher studies have been requested to attend the programme.
EUUN plea to T. R. Zealing
DIMAPUR: Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN) has appealed to minister for Planning and coordination and veterinary and animal husbandry (V&AH) T. R. Zealing to publicize the decision of government in connection with the anomalies revealed through information furnished by veterinary and animal husbandry department under RTI Act. EUUN said the director had on March 17 committed to take up the issue to the responsible authority and as per the demand put forward by the union for decentralization of schemes, refund of fund against projects without locations and inclusion of educated unemployed. Further, it said since the matter was at the disposal of government, the deprived sections of people were waiting for a change. Union also informed that failing which it would be compelled to take its own course of action and added it would not be held responsible for any untoward incident.
AVIMA judging member
DIMAPUR: Moa of Abiogenesis band has been invited to be a member of Global Judging team for AVIMA 2010. This year, AVIMA, the world’s biggest independent music awards would cover Asia Pacific with Australia and New Zealand as the new contender. Moa will be judging five categories of music which include Best Electro/Dance Song, Most Mindblowing Music Video , Best Pop Song, Moody Melancholic Masterpiece. Best Hip-Hop/Urban Song, The Bliss Award and Best Feelgood Song of The Year. Voting will begin from April 8 to 23. The online voting process will make up 30% of the overall scores to determine a winner. The other 70% will be determined by global music judges.
Indian Panorama film festival
DIMAPUR: Indian Panorama Film Festival 2010, Kohima will be held on April 23, 2:30 p.m at the State Academy Hall Kohima with minister for Information & Public Relations, Eco and statistics, R. Tohanba as the chief guest. The inauguration will be followed by screening of Distant Rumblings (English 22 minutes) and Dev D (Hindi 144 minutes). The three day film festival is jointly organised by Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Government of Nagaland.
Plea for drought fund
DIMAPUR: Dimapur District Farmers’ Association (DDFA) has appealed to the government and department to release fund for drought affected farmers. The association informed that central investigative team had conducted investigation for drought affected farmers in 2009.

DIMAPUR: General meeting of Pongidong village council (PVC) has been convened on April 28, 7 a.m at village community hall.

DIMAPUR: Venue for Arpana Ministries meeting has been shifted to Duncan Basti Old Ao Baptist Church (behind Sangtam Baptist Church), Dimapur. NE coordinator Arpana Ministry Aoyangla informed that meeting will be held on April 24, 10 a.m.

Programme on KAP-abortion
KOHIMA: Family Planning Association of India, Nagaland Branch, with FPAI Mumbai will conduct dissemination programme on Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) on abortion on April 28,10 am at Hotel Japfü. Dr. Celal Samad from International Planned Parenthood Federation London; Dr. Kalpana Apte, assistant secretary general, FPAI Mumbai, Rupsa Malik, IPPF-SARO New Delhi and team will deliberate on the issues with stakeholders.
Bridge of Hope conducts medical camp
DIMAPUR: Bridge of Hope (Child Care Project) Railway colony, Dimapur conducted medical check-up on April 17 at the Project centre. Dr. Ngampa Konyak and Dr Temjen AO (NRHM) conducted the camp.
More than 100 children and community people were treated and were given free medicines. The Project Director Kitoli has expressed gratitude to the doctors for their untiring service towards the project.
Seminar for teachers
DIMAPUR: St. John’s School, Kohima organized a one day seminar for teachers to enhance their teaching skills. This programme was animated by Rev. Sr. Margaret Sekhose and Rev. Fr. Joe Mariadhas. The highlights were developmental milestones in children, learning capacities of children, class room management, qualities of teachers and practical learning. Student teacher relationship and the role of families in handling their children and early identification and diagnosis of special children were also dealt in the programme. Attitude for teaching and teachers as key step towards teaching and learning, providing proper environment as basics for schooling was dealt by Sr. Margaret.
Appeal to revoke
B. Wati Ao impeachment
DIMAPUR: The Nuton Bosti Ao Senso Telongjem (NBAST) secretary, Nungsangmanen on behalf of Nuton Bosti Ao Union (NBAU), Dimapur has informed that the constitution of Nuton Bosti Council which was approved and adopted on November 9, 2007 for the residents of Nuton Bosti colony has not provided any provision to the executive committee of the council to impeach the chairman. In a press statement, Nungsangmanen said however, the executive committee has impeached the chairman ignoring the constitution. Further, NBAU has appealed to Nuton Bosti Council to revoke the impeachment order at the earliest.

DIMAPUR: Consultative meeting of NPF Youth Wing Central has been convened on April 29, 10am in the Central office.
