For the first time in Dimapur, the National Programme for Control Blindness, Dimapur organized teachers training for school children eye screening at District Hospital Dimapur on April 20 with Dr. Punsokiu, Nodal Officer, NPCB and Imkong, Ophthalmic Assistant as resource persons.
According to Dr. Punsokiu, Nodal Officer, NPCB the main aim of the programme was to detect children with refractive errors and poor vision thereby reduce preventable blindness caused by refractive error which was the second-most common cause of blindness in the world next to cataract
A total of 24 teachers from Government Primary School and Government Middle School of Dimapur district attended the training. Nodal Officer, NPCB extended gratitude to DIS, Dimapur District for support and co-operation. The training was sponsored by District Health Society Dimapur.
