Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) has stated that even though Chang, Sangtam, and Khiamnuigan were among the major tribes of Nagaland, their festivals were not included in the 2010 edition of Class VI general knowledge text book. A joint release issued CCSU president Y Hongkin Chang and general secretary Changsang Chang sought clarification from the director SCERT as why the festivals have been excluded from the text books. It may be mentioned that United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has also issued a memorandum to SCERT Nagaland with regard to the new Nagaland Edition of Class-VI general knowledge textbook published by SCERT for exclusion of Sangtam tribal festival under ‘the Festivals of Nagaland’ column from page 85-87 of the book.
