Sensing the urgent need to haul up the entire drainage system of Dimapur, the newly appointed advisory committee member and sanitation in charge of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Lepshi Ao and member Er Vikholie Neinu Thursday took up the task of cleaning up the drainage along MP road. The advisory members also disclosed that ‘Dust Free Zones’ and mapping of the entire drainage line of Dimapur was already on the cards. It may be mentioned that the heavy down pour for the past few days have inundated the low lying areas especially Sachu colony, Burma Camp and Walford.
While interacting with this reporter at the Sanitation office of DMC, Lepshi Apo informed that the cleanliness drive will go on a large scale and will be a continuous process. A software engineer by profession, Er Vikholie Neinu also stressed on the importance of creating public awareness and stated that ‘the reality of Dimapur town should come out’.
“Without public civic sense, it will always be useless’ he said. Meanwhile, both the advisory members informed that cleaning up the drainage line will be carried out on Sundays in order to avoid inconvenience to the public and prevent traffic congestion.
