Furnishing answer to an unstarred question during the ongoing assembly session cost the state government Rs. 9, 41000, making it one of the most expensive exercises in preparing answer to a question.
The state government had to spend a total of Rs 941000/- (Rs 9.41 Lakh) to furnish 30 sets of documents to answer an unstarred question No.4 relating to implementation of MGNREGA scheme by the state Rural Development department. The same documents were also transported by two Tata Mobile vehicles.
Opposition MLA Lanpha Konyak raised the unstarred question whereby he had sought the details of Master Roll in district wise against each Block for 2008-2009 and 2009-10 under MGNREGA, actual payment receipt in district wise against each Block for 2008-09 and 2009-10 under MGNREGA and true copy of work order in district wise against each Block for 2008-09 and 2009-10 under MGNREGA.
This was revealed by the state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio on Saturday while delivering his concluding remarks on the debate on governor’s address. To furnish the 30 copies of documents cost Rs.9.41 lakh and if the state government is to furnish 200 sets of the same documents, it would cost the state Rs.3 crore, Rio said. He appealed the members of the house to be careful while asking questions in future.
Meanwhile, according to sources, preparation of documents and making duplicate copies should not have cost so much considering the fact that offices have their own Xerox copiers.
