Yuva Kriti and folk cultural festival
Kohima: Nehru Yuva Sangtham (NYS), Nagaland Zone, ministry of Youth Affairs will be organising three-day state level Yuva Kriti and folk cultural festival starting from March 30 at multi–purpose hall IG stadium, Kohima with Bendang Longchari, secretary, YRS as chief guest and Kh. Ibohandbi Singh, Zonal Director NYKS, Nagaland Zone. The function will be chaired by John Makhabo, District Youth Coordinator, NYK , Kohima.
Okotso Students’ Union meeting
DIMAPUR: Okotso Students’ Union (OSU) has convened a joint meeting on April 3 at Lotha Hoho Ki Dimapur, near DC Court junction at 10am. Shanjothung Ngullie, president OSU has requested all the Okotso Ekhung, former executives, OSU unit office bearers and responsible persons of Okotso to attend the meeting.
Convention and divine healing services
DIMAPUR: Pentecoatal Church, Meriema will be holding convention and divine healing services at R.K. Ground, Meriema village from April 22 to 25.
Gospel music festival in Bhojpuri
DIMAPUR: United Christian Workers Ministry (UCWM) Dimapur and Life Reform Ministry Niu Colony Dimapur will be organizing a Gospel Music festival in Bhojpuri and healing service at 6 pm from April 2 to 4 at TUP near Tata parking. The main singer for the occasion will be Banarasi Nigam and friends (artist Radio Broadcasting corporation station) Mahmurganj, Vararnasi UP.
Peren CMCF orientation programme
DIMAPUR: Orientation programme for selected beneficiaries of CMCF 2009-10 under Peren district has been convened on April 8,10am at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Peren. DC Peren, Khrienuo C. Metha has informed all beneficiaries to attend the programme.
Monyu festival from April 1
DIMAPUR: Monyu festival 2010 would be celebrated on April 1 and 2 at Tourist village, Pongo near Longleng with president ENPO, Mangko Phom and president, Phom Student’s Conference, Hamnyei exhorting the function. The other highlights of the festival include folk song and dances from different cultural troupes, competition on log drum beating, indigenous games and Monyu feast etc. The Pongo village council have extended their welcome to all interested groups and individuals to attend the festival and further wished the Phom community a very happy Monyu celebration.
Consumer Rights rally in Phek
DIMAPUR: Nagaland Voluntary Consumer Organization (NVCO) in collaboration with Phek District Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (PDVCO) & SIRD will be conducting a seminar cum public rally on Consumer Rights at Phek town on April 10 as part of NVCO state-wide consumer educational tour. Phek District Consumer Protection Council chairman & DC Phek, Mikha Lomi would grace the programme as chief guest and NVCO president, Kezhokhoto Savi as main speaker on the theme ‘Consumers are to be protected’.
Aoleang festival celebration in Chenloisho
KOHIMA: Chenloisho Students Union (CSU) will be hosting Konyak Aoleang festival cum 20th session of CSU games & sports meet from April 2 to 4 at Chenloisho village, Mon district. The event on the theme “Cutural & sports for approchement”, will be graced by CL John, Chairman Marcofed & DPDB and M. Nockpai Filed Asistant , ECO & Statistics of NTA as guest of honour. All the concerned , invites and all the leader of the area are requested to witness to attend the function, especially the citizen of the villages and all the students are reminded to reach the village on or before March 28.
State level folk cultural festival in Kohima
KOHIMA: A three-day state level Yuva Kriti & folk cultural festival will be held from March 30 at Multi-purpose Hall ‘A’, IG Stadium, Kohima. The programme is organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Nagaland Zone, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, Bendang Longchari will be the chief guest at the inaugural function at 10:30 a.m. while Zonal Director, NYKS, Nagaland Zone, Kh. Ibohanbi Singh will be the guest of honour. The programme will be chaired by District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Kohima, John Makhabo.
DC Wokha on appointment of enumerators
DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Wokha has informed all heads of department posted in Wokha district to collect the format for filling up the details of their respective staff from the office of DC Wokha on March 29 at 12pm. Informing this in a press note Wepretso Mero, DC and principal census officer, Wokha said the list of staff was urgently required for appointing enumerators/supervisors for the Houselisting and Housing Census Schedule and Household Schedule for National Population Register.
ASU appeals to SIT for concrete evidence
KOHIMA: With regard to SIT scrutiny on Education Department, Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has appealed to the authority to produce concrete evidential proof against the erring officials before implementing any course of action. A release by union stated that proper exposition or any concrete involvement and evidence of director of School Education and some of his subordinate officers were not vividly stated or clearly uncovered. While appreciating SIT for its services in exposing mismanagement of various government officials, union stated that it would not remain as mute spectators if genuine dedicated officials or teachers were “betrothed to false allegations and punishments” at the behest of some “despicable” persons.
Collection of village patta date extended
DIMAPUR: Industrial Village Razhüphe Dimapur (IVRD) has extended the date for collection of village patta for a period of one month i.e. upto April 30 owing to ensuing assembly session and financial year. Informing this in a press note T.L. Angami, head village chief and chairman IVRD has requested all individual land holders, departments and their agencies to collect the village patta within the extended period of time.
Alisopur, Tsadang villages maintain peace
MOKOKCHUNG: Alisopur village and Tsadang village observed their peaceful relationship programme on March 16 at Alisopur village. According to Tsandang village head GB Yothrise and VCC Imsutemjen, head GB of Alisopur Village village Chuba and VVC Chubangangshi, the traditional relationship between the two villages had been practicing since the time of their forefathers. Village councils of both the villages have urged its villagers to strengthen and maintain their relationship in coming days.
Don Bosco Lazami holds seminar
DIMAPUR: A seminar on Education was conducted by Don Bosco School, Lazami on March 19 to impart learning skills to students, teaching skills to teachers and responsibility of parents towards their children in the field of education. The course was conducted by Rev Fr Mathew T, Rev Sr Tessy -Diocesan education commission, Kohima Diocese and the leadership of the school management, Rev Fr, Mathias Dias , Principal Rev Sr. Rose – Headmistress and Rev Fr Cyril.
NSBAK Revival hour held
DIMAPUR: Northern Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (NSBAK) under the aegis of SBAK Nito Mount, Zunheboto held its Revival hour at Vikuto Baptist Church from March 19 to 21 under theme “Escape for thy life”. The main speakers for the occasion were Rev Hukugha Jimo director Mission evangelism SBAK Nito Mount, counselors’ director Rev Ghoheto Evangelist SBAK Nito Mont and counselors from the Sumi Baptist Church Dimapur.
JD (U) appoints new members
DIMAPUR: State Janata Dal (United ) president Mhonjan Lotha has appointed and welcomed Vikiesel Neikha Angami , former editor of, local daily ‘Chapi’ as vice president for Kohima district and former ACC(I) president Pongro – Kiphire Lochung Peter Yimchunger to the post of JDU joint secretary in charge of Kiphire with immediate effect. Mhonjan Lotha expressed hoped that they would work towards strengthening the party.
CANSSEA Wokha meet held
DIMAPUR: An emergency meeting of CANSSEA Wokha unit was held on March 25 at LTC hall and members unanimously resolved to appraise Central CANSSEA office to convene a meeting of all district units at the earliest and set the process of negotiation with state government pertaining to the implementation of 6th ROP and come to a logical conclusion in the interest and welfare of the people and the employees in particular. The meeting also resolved to hold election of office bearers in the next general meeting.
PPC appoints new VP, legal advisor
DIMAPUR: Phom People’s Council (PPC) has elected Ponghok Phom as vice president and S. Wati Angh as legal advisor to PPC. Council informed that members were elected at its executive meeting held on March 7 at Longleng. An education trip to Guwahati was organized for the members of Likya Welfare Society, Bhandari by 41 Assam Rifles of HQ 5 Sector under the aegis of HQ DGAR (N) which was flagged off on March 22 from Bhandari, Wokha. The group would visit places of historical and educational interest in Guwahati. Their visit included places like Kamakhya Temple, Sanghardev Cultural Centre (NE), Saraighat Bridge, Museum, Balaji Mandir and Nehru Stadium.
CD organizes earthquake preparedness
DIMAPUR: As the northeast region falls in Earthquake Zone V with imminent threat in the region, the department of Civil Defence and Home Guards department organized earthquake awareness and preparedness programme at various schools from March 10-23. The programme was demonstrated and taught by officers and personnel of the District office on various emergency safety measures like the Do’s and don’ts, first aid. The programme was conducted at the following schools- Don Bosco HSS, Christian HSS, Patkai Christian College and SD Jain HSS involving the Disctict Administration, CEO DMC, GB’s and various colony and community chairman.
NBC, Peren celebrates golden jubilee
DIMAPUR: The golden jubilee Nchangram Baptist Church (NBC), Peren was celebrated from March 20 to 22 under the theme ‘Celebrate the Glory of God’ marking the advent of Christianity in the village of Nchangram in the year 1960. Message was delivered by Rev. H. Newmai and Rev. Kamwang Rentta.
Kehenyi candle making unit at Tseminyu
DIMAPUR: Kehenyi candle making unit at Tseminyu Town was inaugurated on March 26 at working unit of Kehenyi SHG, Tseminyu Town by Rosenle Kath, block development officer, Tseminyu as chief guest. The chief guest while exhorting the gathering expressed that she was impressed by Kehenyi SHG who had been working tirelessly to come up to the extend of establishing the candle making unit and also encouraged the members to start with humble beginning and achieve their goal. Meanwhile, Ghovili P Achumi, project officer National Co-operative Union of India Co-operative Education Field Project Kohima (NCUI-CEEP) briefed about the working system of NCUI in all over the country and Loyule, Chairperson Kehenyi SHG expressed gratitude to NCUI-CEEP, Kohima for arranging the candle making machine. The head GB Tseminyu Town also appreciated the Kehenyi SHG for coming up to this stage and further urged the BDO to extend possible help to the group.
SFC, TYC cultural programme
DIMAPUR: Strivers Federation Club (SFC) and Thamman Youth Club (TYC) conducted a district level cultural programme at Sainik Rest house sponsored NYK Mon on March 20 on the theme ‘Culture and Modernity in the wake of education’ .Six cultural troupes from across the districts participated with Stella Elang DPO, NYK Mon as resource person. She encouraged spectators on importance of preserving culture in the modern world which was also part of education. She appreciated and congratulated the organizers, sponsors and appealed to them to continue holding such programs.
