A joint meeting of district education officer Zunheboto, DISs and headmasters/principals of all government and private high schools in Zunheboto district on March 4 resolved to preserve and promote Sumi language for younger generation. Vihoshe Muru, sessional secretary and H.S. Rotokha, sessional chairman and administrator Sütsah Academy in a joint press statement said members resolved to introduce Sumi language subject in all government and private schools commencing from current session and entry point in private schools be at Class V as decided the previous year. The headmasters/principals of schools have been requested to designate any Sumi graduate teacher to take Sumi subject where ever language teacher is not available or posted.
Further, the meeting resolved that present teaching language teacher or any graduate teacher should undergo a diploma course in Sütsah Academy for duration of six months from March and that no fresh candidate be appointed as language teacher, assistant language officer and language officer without obtaining mark sheet, certificate and recommendation from Sütsah Academy Zunheboto. It also decided that block wise (DIS jurisdiction) language orientation courses be conducted for teachers, Church leaders, VDB secretaries, VC secretaries and student leaders.
