St. Paul HSS and LFHSS sports meet

The annual sports and games of St’ Paul Higher Secondary school was held here on Monday with V.Z Angami, Principal Police Training School, Chumukidema as chief guest and Atu Zamvü, OC East police station as guest of honour.
The chief guest speaking on the occasion urged the students be alert and ready to face the challenges that lay ahead. Stating that students should cultivate good character, the chief guest said only people with good character are trusted in today’s society.
Quoting the examples of various women sports personalities in India such as Sania Mirza, Sania Nehwal, Mary Kom, PT Usha etc the chief guest encouraged the students of the school to be active in sports and games apart from their studies, which was growing to be career opportunity in their coming days. “Sports is not only about winning but the participation, which is the most important aspect in students’ curriculum”, the chief guest stated.
The guest of honour for the occasion, Officer in Charge, East Police station Dimapur, Atu Zumvü lauded the catholic schools for not only excelling in education but also for inculcating sports and games activities in their institution, which he said was an important part in shaping children to face today’s competitive nature.
Earlier, the chief guest inspected the guard of honour of the five contingents who took part in the march past and also took salute from the marching contingents. The programme also witnessed splendid drill displays, cultural events from various communities of the school. Various dignitaries from various institutions also witnessed the event.
LFHSS: The opening ceremony of the two-day, annual sports meet of Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School was conducted Monday at its school premises with DSO Dimapur, Nizheto Awomi as the chief guest.
Declaring the meet open, the chief guest told the students to take active part in sporting activity as sports has become a lucrative profession. Earlier, on his arrival at the venue, the chief guest hoisted the school flag and lighted the sports flame that was followed by the march past from classes 5, 6 and 7.
A marathon race for both boys and girls was also conducted from Lhomithi colony junction to the school campuses.
In boys marathon the Green house emerged as the winner followed by Blue and Yellow in the second and third positions, while for girls Red house was the winner followed by Yellow and Green.
