Yuva Kriti, folk cultural festival underway in Kma

First ever state level three-day Yuva Kriti & folk cultural festival of Nagaland got underway at Multi-purpose Hall ‘A’, I.G Stadium, at the outskirt of the state capital here Tuesday.
Secretary Youth Resources & Sports, Bendang Longchari who graced the inaugural function as the chief guest formally declared Yuva Kriti & Folk Cultural Festival. In his brief address, Bendang said that Nehru Yuva Kendra Nagaland was less known until some few years back. However, with the activities it has taken up after another, people slowly came to know about NYK.
On the occasion, he also exhorts the gathering that a new programme is soon to come up for empowering the youth through Adventure Sports which would includes Para Sailing, Para Gliding, Mountaineering, River Rafting etc and challenge adventurous youth to come forward and avail the opportunity and also excel and earn their livelihood. “If you can excel you can earn your livelihood”, he added.
Earlier, Kh. Ibohanbi Singh, Zonal Director NYKS, Nagaland Zone in his keynote addressed stated that the main objective of the State Level Yuva Kriti & cultural festival is to provide opportunities to the young people of all districts of the state to appreciate different socio-cultural activities of all communities life style and also provide opportunity to display their cultural talent.
Singh pointed out that in the recent past, large number of talents has been discovered from the state. However, the absence of adequate platform for exposure and lack of opportunities to perform at a large scale their immense talent remains unexplored and undiscovered. There is urgent need to provide them the necessary platform and support. Keeping this in view, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has envisaged organizing the first ever state level Yuva Kriti and Folk Cultural Festival at Kohima, he added.
On the state level Yuva Kriti Exhibition, he said that the main objective was at enhancing the skill of youth thereby facilitating them for self employment for augmenting family income. He also revealed that the Yuva Kriti targets to organize rural youth into SHGs for their capacity building, thrift and credit, marketing and entrepreneurship development etc, thereby tackle the problem of unemployment among the youth. The three day event would include various competitions among the participants from seven districts in the state.
