DAPCU Kiphire, KNP+prog on HIV and AIDS

District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Kiphire conducted sensitization programme on HIV and AIDS for district heads, village council/panchayats, VDBs, urban/local bodies at Mutonger village and Kiusam town under Kiphire district.
Leaders from various organizations were sensitized on topics including basics of HIV and AIDS, STD/STI, Stigma & Discrimination, Care & Support, Voluntary blood donation & blood safety, PPTCT and services available.
The programme was sponsored by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) while DAPCU team was led by district programme officer, Tsiatsuvi. DAPCU Kiphire has expressed gratitude to Mutonger village and Kiusam town chairmen, colleagues and community leaders for their cooperation, and Mutonger village church pastor for hospitality and support extended during the programme.
Meanwhile, Network of Kohima district People Living with HIV and AIDS (KNP+) organized a one day sensitization programme on HIV and AIDS at Chiephobozou on March 28 supported by NSACS with the objective to reach out to the community level.
Brief profile of KNP+ was given by Anu while present scenario on HIV and AIDS, role of communities in the fight against HIV and AIDS were some topics which were discussed at the programme.
KNP+ members also highlighted the services provided by the network including Counseling & Referral, organizing Support Group Meetings (SGM) at various sub-divisions under Kohima district, sensitization & awareness programmes, support for positive children with nutrition and educational support etc.
HIV prevalence rate based on NSACS report was also presented where it was revealed that out of a total of 29,5286 blood screening, 9266 have tested positive.
