Another incident of IRB jawans’ rash behaviour surfaced again when two IRB jawans allegedly under the influence of alcohol highhandedly harassed the driver of mini Tata bearing NLO-1A 3264, near TCP Gate, Kohima at 9pm on March 29.
According to a press statement issued though e mail by President, Truck Union, Pfutsero, Kewete Mero the inebriated jawans allegedly seized the vehicle’s documents and took away Rs.800. He further added that the jawans insulted, slapped and hit the driver with gun butt.
However they were prevented from doing any further damage by the timely intervention of North Police, OC and the vehicle’s documents recovered added the release.
Mero has further requested the official-in-charge of that day to make a thorough investigation into the said incident and take necessary action upon those erring jawans.
