A total of 16 campers-NSS volunteers from Mount Tiyi College Wokha led by programme officer, John Lotha conducted a National Service Scheme (NSS) special campaign at Phiro Village, Wokha. The NSS was sponsored by the department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of India and Nagaland. During the campaign at Phiro, campers expressed amazement by developmental changes in the village and the unique village administration. It was also revealed that village council had constructed a water tank to each household under NREGA 2007-08 and the ongoing under construction of link road from Phiro village to Nizu River. The village also bagged the best performing village and was awarded Rs. 50,000 in 2008-09 by state government under VDB fund. He also stated that water reservoir which was under construction, on completion would provide water facilities to about 50,000 people. The campers also extended their hands in doing some community service to village and conducted a seminar with villager on disaster management and awareness programme on HIV and AIDS.
