Total of 54045 applicants on different categories were registered on ‘Live Register’ till December 31, 2009 in the Employment exchanges. This figure was revealed in the Annual Administrate Report (AAR) 2009 -2010 department of Employment and Craftsmen Training Nagaland.
Of the total of 54045 applicants, 33826 are Male (M) and 20219 are Female (F). The categories of applicants were Post Graduates-656(M) and 680(F), Graduates-4819(M) and 3887(F), Pre-University- 4627(M) and 3770(F), Matriculate-7682(M) and 4737(F), Below matric-15706(M) and 6948(F), Degrees(Tech)-206(M) and 110(F) and Diploma-130(M) and 87(F).
The AAR report also disclosed that department proposed to computerize all Employment Exchanges in the state. In this regard the Regional Employment Change, Kohima has been up as the pilot project and online registration inaugurated on February 19. The remaining Districts Employment Exchanges will also be taken subsequently so as to complete during 2010-2011.
The report stated in the 11th five year plan, the department proposed to open district Employment Exchanges at Longleng and upgrade two Rural Employment Bureaux at Peren and Kiphire to full fledged District Employment Exchange. The department has upgraded Women ITI Dimapur into a Centre of Excellence in Apparel sector under the Ministry of Labour & Employment Scheme for 1396 government ITIs in the country on public-private partnership and ITI Kohima through World Bank assistance in Automobile sector during the year 2008-09.
The department is under consideration to open one general ITI at Dimapur for the benefit of the youth as there are many unemployed youth concentrated at Dimapur area, but could not facilitate them as there is an only woman ITI at Dimapur at present. In this regard, to protect the site proposed for general ITI, fencing work has been completed during 2009-2010.
Further the AAR also stated that under the scheme of Setting up of 1500 new ITIs and 5000 Skill Development Centres(SDCs) in Public–Private Partnerships (PPP), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of Indian provisionally allocated five new ITIs and 11 SDCs for Nagaland . The scheme expected to be implemented in phase manger from 2010-2011 onward.
