Tharoor to visit Meghalaya

Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor would inaugurate a three-day international conference on “From Land Locked to Land Linked: North East India in BIMSTEC” beginning on April 9. The conference organized by Jadavpur Association of International Relations (JAIR) will be held at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) here and is expected to be attended by ambassadors of Myanmar, Thailand and Bangladesh, who are members of BIMSTEC nations. Over the past ten years, the BIMSTEC has played a significant role as a bridge of relationship and cooperation between Southeast Asian and South Asian countries. The current members of BIMSTEC comprise Thailand, Myanmar, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan. Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary, Joint Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs Navdeep S Suri, Jadavpur University Vice Chancellor Prof. PN Ghosh and Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industries (North East Council) Dipankar Chatterjee will also attend the conference.
