: Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DHFW) has informed that along with the entire North Eastern region of the country, Anti Malaria Month 2010 would be observed during the whole month of April.
A press release issued by DHFW additional director, Dr. Imtimeren Jamir stated that Anti Malaria Month which was previously observed in the month of June has been changed to April due to ‘paradigm shift’ of disease transmission.
Department would carry out extensive behavior change communication for prevention and control of malaria by augmenting awareness and mobilization of man power, resources for strengthening sustainable changes in behavior of the target community towards prevention and control of malaria and other vector borne diseases, the release added.
Directorate of Health & Family Welfare would be conducting advocacy workshops, inter-sectoral meetings, communication through media-mix, monitoring and evaluation at state/district/block/village levels, provide protection during transmission season through indoor residual spray with DDT, treatment of bednets with insecticides and mobile malaria clinics.
Further, directorate officials would also tour endemic districts in the state to monitor and supervise activities under the programme during Anti Malaria Month.
