Construction of Chubi Bailey Bridge, adjoining Doyang dam, which had been abandoned for decades, had been started with the intervention of chief minister Neiphiu Rio who assured to look into it during the community fishing at Doyang last year.
According to an official bulletin height of the pillar stood at 390 metres from sea level, believed to be the highest in the North East and second in India and was taken up by National Project Construction Company (NPCC). The length of the bridge measuring 600 feet (280metres) which is under construction is manned by Bridge and roofing Kolkata Co. The Chubi Bailey Bridge involving crores of rupees is financed by NEEPCO under its welfare scheme. The project is likely to be completed within three to four months time.
DC Wokha, Wepretso Mero and his team also visited the site from time to time to oversee the smooth execution of the project. CBCC and village councils have sought support and co-operation of all concerned for smooth execution of Chubi Bailey Bridge. After completion the bridge would not only benefit the people of the pocketed areas of Sungro range comprising Pangti, Okotso and Old and New Aree villages but would also be a boon for the people of the neighboring areas such as Longkhum village, Mangmitong and other parts of the state.
