Darogapathar rape case

After several hearings over last year’s March 23 Darogapathar rape incident, the trial ended on Tuesday in the court of Additional District & Sessions Judge, after all the arguments were made by the prosecution and defence. Speaking to Nagaland Post, Additional Public Prosecutor Akum informed that the pronouncement of judgment will be done after the final hearing on April 14 when certain procedural matters are rectified and put forward. It may be mentioned that two of the rape accused identified as Hetoi a.k.a. Hetobu and Imtikumzuk were apprehended by NSCN (I-M) on April 6, 2009 and awarded capital punishment on July 17. Two other accused persons- Bonatho Zhimo and Kaghato have been charged with rape, robbery, criminal conspiracy and attempted murder while Temsulemba has been charged under other sections of the law.
