The newly constructed CDPO office at Asuto was inaugurated on April 30 by chief guest Shetoyi Sumi, MLA and chairman NHHDC Nagaland.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said during the year 2009-10 the Government of India provided three additional ICDS projects for Nagaland out of which Asuto was lucky enough to be one of them as the area is perhaps one of the most backward area in Sumi region lacking much behind in all developmental activities.
He also said, the creation of CDPO office at Asuto was made possible due to the initiative of Social Welfare Department and expressed gratitude to Chief Minster who is also minister incharge of Social Welfare, parliamentary secretary social welfare and all ranks and files of Social Welfare Department.
Shetohi further said, the DAN government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio has declared 2010 as the “year of entrepreneurs” and called upon the people of Suruhuto-Asuto to come forward and take advantage of the opportunity.
He said, the chief minister who is currently attending the DPDB meeting all over Nagaland to take stock of the ground reality of each district is something new and should be appreciated by one and all.
Further, deputy commissioner Zunheboto who happened to be the first DC to visit Asuto EAC headquarter since its establishment in 1969 addressed the gathering and urged for proper utilization of NREGA fund and to judiciously carry out the 2011 census that has just started.
Others who spoke include Khukivi Awomi, former minister; Imdangliba, deputy director Social Welfare and Anthony, programme officer Social Welfare.
The chief guest was accompanied by deputy commissioner, SP Zunheboto, ADC Aghunato, EAC Suruhuto and Asuto, urban development officer Zunheboto, SDO PWD Suruhuto and Aghunato, officers from Social Welfare department, Khukivi former minister and host of party workers.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Shuikuto, DWO Zunheboto; invocation by pastor Ikato; welcome address by Henikhu, chairman ATCA; vote of thanks by Nikihe, head GB and benediction by pastor Vishito.
