CCDU holds Clean up Kohima rally

Large number of school students in Kohima participated at the sanitation rally on Tuesday organised by Clean Up Kohima.
The sanitation rally was held at various locations at High School Junction, Pezielietsie (Tinpati) Junction, Razhü Point, MLA Junction/ Near Ao Baptist Church and P.R. Hill junction/ BOC of Kohima.
In his address P.R. Hill junction/ BOC, Er. K. Kruse, Executive Director CCDU, PHED said students has critical role to play in sanitation and urged upon the students to passed on the message of sanitation to their parents, neighbors in-order to keep the environment neat and clean at all places.
Er. Kruse also called upon the students to take resolution and pledge to become the ambassador of sanitation and stated that due to lack of sanitation in India and world, according to report a total 1800 and 5000 respectively people are dying due to diarrhea and 3500 people are dying to malaria in a day.
Earlier short speeches were given by M. Odyuo and Lydia Yeptho and the function was chaired by Dr. Vevo Phesao.
Addressing the gathering at Razhü Point ADC Kohima & Administrator, KMC, Alun Hangsing stressed on sanitation and on the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene. He also advocated on keeping the surroundings clean and challenged the students to care for the environment, which starts with keeping their homes clean and free from pollution.
As Administrator, KMC, Alun Hangsing also briefed on the functioning and activities of the KMC and called upon all concerned to make concerted efforts to keep the capital town clean.
Other speakers included Keduotuolie Mepfhüo and Colo Mero who expounded on Civic Sense and Youth responsibility. Both the speakers called upon the students and the gathering for collective efforts and responsibility to maintain a clean surrounding. The programme was led by Pastor Hotokhu. As part of the Clean Up Kohima, Sanitation Rally at High School Junction, Advisor, Kohima District Sanitation Club, K. Seyie shared on Sanitation, R. Angami representing School Education department briefed on Civic Sense while Programme Coordinator, Youth Net, Joshua Sheqi talked on Youth Responsibility. The programme was led by Rev. Rachülie Vihienuo, Pastor United Baptist Church, Kohima. Besides the students from 33 schools, the rally was attended by office goers and shopkeepers.
