Arms snatched from IRB jawan, recovered

Some miscreant had reportedly snatched away one service SLR from an IRB jawan on duty after hitting and injuring him near Razhu point here last night sending a high alert in the heart of the state capital. According to source, the jawan belonging to C-coy of 12 IR battalion, who was on patrol duty along with a team near Police point below north police station, was hit by some miscreant at dark corner and subsequently his rifle snatched. When he tried to chase the miscreants some youth, who were in inebriated condition, reportedly challenged him. The incident took placed at around 10:30 p.m. and the jawan reportedly sustained head injury. Meanwhile, on receiving information, the entire police patrolling party was alerted and the area was cordoned. After combing the area, the personnel recovered the arm, abandoned in a drain, at D-Block locality. Meanwhile, it was alleged that both the IRB jawan and the police guide were later found to be under the influence of alcohol and were detained for necessary disciplinary action.
