Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), conducted various activities in the month of January to April in Tuensang with the motto “Reforming mindset of farmers; through extension reforms”.
As part of the activities, the agency also conducted exposure tour for village council chairmen(VCC) selected from different villages in the district to create awareness pertaining to Agri and Allied sector activities.
The team visited Dimapur district from April 27 to 29 led by C. Limba Chang, BTT member as team leader. On the first day, the team visited ICAR, complex Jharnapani, where different technologies adapted to Nagaland condition. The farm manager explained like rearing of rabbits, pigs, poultry, sowing methods for different crops, nursery management, etc.
The team visited fruit orchards established in touch with technology perfection and floriculture under green house at the CIH, Medziphema, importance and production of different bio-agents and useful insects were explained at Bio-Control Laboratory, Medziphema; manufacture of different Bio-fertilizers, it importance and uses were deliberated at the Bio-fertilizer Laboratory Medziphema. The team also visited the Mithun research farm at Medziphema.
On April 29, the team visited ply wood industry and design beats manufacturing unit at 7th Mile where they interacted with the proprietor (a local educated unemployed youth) about the famous wooden neck tie, belt and various wooden crafts having uniqueness of its own.
The potentials, usefulness and manufacture of different products by bamboo was seen at the Bamboo Resource Centre, 5th Mile and later Breeding, rearing and management of both commercial and ornamental fishes were explained and demonstrated at the Fish Demonstration Farm, Nagarjan.
