Home ministry summons Ibobi

Manipur Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh on Thursday reportedly put down a detail of the reason behind his government’s decision regarding the restriction in the entry of NSCN(IM) leader, Th Muivah in Manipur.
Ibobi took a special flight to the national capital at 7.30 am today by provided by the Union Home Ministry who summoned him to brief on the reason behind preventing the entry of Muivah to Manipur who was scheduled to attend public functions at Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel districts apart from visiting his birth place, Somdal village.
A source closed to the chief minister’s secretariat said that Ibobi held meeting with the union home minister P. Chidambaram and union defense minister, AK Anthony and union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The source here said that chief minister tabled a detailed list of cases against the rebel leader pending with the Manipur police among which included the spade of killing of Kukis in 1990s and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to arrest Muivah if he stepped in into the soil of Manipur.
On the arrival of the chief minister at Imphal airport, a group of women received him with the slogans praising him for his firm stand on banning Muivah from entering the state.
Meanwhile, police foiled a public meeting planned at THAU ground Imphal arranged by the United Committee Manipur, an apex body of local clubs and women local bodies. A team of police from Imphal west police rushed to the spot and dispersed the gathering.
“Muivah’s visit intense to build up a campaign for disintegration of Naga inhabitant areas of Manipur to form a greater Nagaland which people of Manipur are objecting right from the very beginning,” a leader of the UCM said.
Market places in Imphal city and Lamlong Bazar, the main marketing place in Imphal east district wore deserted look as venders and shopkeepers of the market places staged sit-in protest opposing Muivah’s visit saying that the proposed visit related with political motive of breaking the territorial integrity of Manipur.
