Mao Welfare Association Delhi (MWAD) and Mao Students Union Delhi (MSUD) taking strong exception to militarisation of Mao Naga areas condemned the “naked aggression” of govt of Manipur on dignity and honour of Naga people. Everyone, including the “Naga Leader Th. Muivah who is negotiating for peace and lasting solution for the Naga people with the govt. of India, has the right to visit one’s own birthplace”, stated a press release issued by the two bodies. It further added that there was nothing illegal on the proposed visit of Th. Muivah to Somdal village, his birthplace as Ministry of Home Affairs, govt of India had given its clearance on the visit.
It stated that by mobilizing state security forces and imposing prohibitory orders under 144 CRPC in Mao Gate and adjoining villages, Manipur Government had created serious law and order problem where none existed. Further, the two bodies demanded the intervention of the Governor of Manipur to restore peace and order and to stem the fascist agenda pursued by “chauvinistic politics” of Manipur government.
Meanwhile, expressing shock over Manipur police action where it shot three Naga brothers, Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) has condemned the action of Manipur government and said that it was trying to create communal disharmony in the region. On Manipur govt’s decision in barring the general secretary NSCN (I-M), Th. Muiviah from visiting his birth place, Urkhul the association pointed out that it was designed to sabotage the ongoing “Indo-Naga” peace negotiation by Manipur govt.
