At least 10 government offices in Chandel, Ukhrul and Tamenglong districts except Churachandpur were torched by miscreants suspected to be supporters of Muivah stated the police on Friday.
Normal life in the last few days was severely affected as a 48-hour statewide general strike was observed in the state, called by the All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO) which concluded at 6 pm on Friday.
Demonstrations and rallies were also carried out extensively in the four Naga dominated hill districts of Chandel, Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong districts burning down effigies of prime minister, home minister and other leaders alleging them of creating communal tension among the people of the state and also to protest against the ban on Th. Muivah entering to Manipur and resulting in the death of two students by the Manipur police.
Out of the ten offices that were set on fire, 7 were from Chandel district, two in Ukhrul district and Tamenglong district agriculture office.
Meanwhile, no untoward incident was reported in Mao gate even though situation remained tense on Friday.
Owing to the general strike, vehicles were off the road and shops and business establishments across the four valley districts remained close for the day.
