Slamming state home minister Imkong L. Imchen for his purported “negative remark” on state’s police force, the state Congress today described it as “most unfortunate and totally uncalled for.” Quoting his remarks “for many years, the Nagaland Police was sleeping and was working as suppliers of rum and whisky to underground cadres…..” the NPCC media cell chairman Dr. K. Hoshi, in a press not, said he had projected state’s police force in very poor light. The Congress also regretted that, as head of state’s police force he has such low esteem of his own soldiers. “It gives no good reason to him to act self-righteous by condemning the whole State police force for the fault of the few,” Dr. Hoshi said. On shortage of Police officers in the rank of IGP in the state PHQ and state government’s failure to take initiative, the state Congress said it exposed that home minister was not doing his home work. “His apathy proved that it is in fact, the Home Minister who is sleeping on such highly sensitive matter that concerns the internal security apparatus of the State,” the Congress charged.
