KMC renamed Immanuel College

Kilenkaba Memorial College (KMC) located at Lingrijan, Dimapur, one of the second oldest colleges in Dimapur in Arts and Science stream was formally renamed as “Immanuel College” at a simple function held at its college premises on Friday.
The monolith of the Immanuel College with its new motto “Learn and Shine” was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Maongwati Aier.
DC Dimapur stating that the new nomenclature of the college has got a connection with God, he asked the students of the college to fear the lord and work hard. Asserting that degree alone cannot work out, the DC urged the students to cultivate moral values.
Maongwati further recalled the year 1878 wherein the Mission School was established by Mary Clark, which marked the beginning of education and the progress the state has made in the field of education.
According to Maongwati proper education began nearly two decades after the state attended statehood and since then with the advancement in technology, the education system has progress to a vast extend.
The DC also opined on the need for the educational institutions in the state to gear up and focus on providing a proper careers to the students instead of focusing on “two square meals a day”.
Chairman of the college, Dr. A. Loso Chalai in his address describe late Kilenkaba as a man of God and urged the students to follow the footprints of the departed soul.
It may be recalled that the college with its motto “Towards higher learning and progress” established in 1994 and in memory of late Kilenkaba (1862-1958), a missionary from Nokpu village, Mokokchung was inaugurated by the then minister for higher and technical education Shikiho Sema. After four years the college was upgraded to a degree level in 1998 and it was in the year 2008 the college which was known as Kilenkaba Memorial College was handed over to the chairmanship and proprietorship of Dr. A. Loso Chalai.
Earlier, the dedicatory prayer for the renaming function of the Kilenkaba Memorial College was said by pastor Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, Rev N. Tzudir.
