Dr. Shürho inaugurates new college in Kma

The KROS College, Lerie, Kohima, with motto “Not Word, But Deed” became the newest college and the 52nd college in state of Nagaland.
KROS College was formally inaugurated by minister for Higher Education and Urban Development Dr. Shürhozelie.
In his address, the minister congratulated KROS Education Society led by its President Kevisiezolie Souhu for establishing the college in service of humanity and wished that the college prospers in inner meaning of love and remembrance.
Touching upon Higher Education department in the state, the minister said higher education was the agency through which one could have a strong foundation of education and stated that Higher Education department came into being only in 1983, though the first college (Fazl Ali College Mokokchung) was established in 1959.
The minister revealed that Higher Education department during the span of 27 years, there are already 52 secular colleges in, including KROS College and 24
Theological colleges within a short span of years in the state and informed that every year three new colleges are established. He also said that the state government has taken over 14 colleges in state “under compulsion and local situations” and rest 38 college are private run colleges in state.
The minister also said National Policy on Education focused for greater excess than inclusive of value based education and pointed out that Nagaland Gross Enrollment Ration (GER) during the 10th Five year plan was very at 5 % as against the target at 10 % and during 11th Five year plan target at 15 % .
He disclosed that Nagaland’s GER was little over 5 % and admitted in the coming five years we have to make a jump, which is a worry and stated that in order to minimize the gap, we need for set up more colleges and more seats in the colleges and the opening of KROS College is a “great step” and congratulated the pioneer of the college.
Giving a brief report of KROS College, KROS Education Society President Kevisiezolie Souhu said it took 3 ½ years to established the college KROS stands for Kevisiezolie, RO stand for Rokovino and S stand for Suohu.
“The idea to set up an education institution has been conceived since my young days, which was further filliped by my late wife Rokovino”, who passed away in 2005, stated Kevisiezolie Souhu President KROS Education Society.
Further he said KROS Education Society was registered society under the society’s act 1969 and also read out the names 16 members of the society.
President also extended gratitude to Nagaland University for granting affiliation, allowing starting pass course and also honours in History, Economics, Education, Political Science, English and commerce subjects.
Earlier the function was chaired by Menukhol John, Vice president KROS Education Society, invocation prayer by Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyii, Executive Director ABC, special number Seyiekhrietuo Sekhose and friends, Khedi Baptist Church and vote of thanks by Er.Neilabeizo Tsiirho Technical, KROS Education Society. NLA Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie, Commissioner and Secretary Higher Education F.P Solo, government officers, and elders from Lerie colony also attended the function.
