SVBC exposure trip to Kaziranga
DIMAPUR: Sanis Village Baptist Church (SVBC) visited Kaziranga forest as part of exposure trip from April 27. The team comprising of 34 members visited Kaziranga forest oil refinery and other places. Meanwhile, A.R. Murry, pastor has expressed gratitude to Sanis Baptist Church members and Priyoku Poreh, bus owner for extending prayer and financial support towards the trip.
CBC platinum jubilee celebration held
DIMAPUR: Chimonger Baptist Church (CBC) platinum jubilee celebration was held from May 1 to 4 along with inauguration of new Church building. The celebration was attended by around 5000 people and the main speakers included Rev. C. Lima, E.S. Yangli, Rev. T. Tsipise, secretary USBLA Kiphire sub-centre along with USBLA staff including Moa Jamir, pastor Yemlang Baptist Church Changki and C. Kipili Sangtam, MLA and chairman NSMDC also took part in the programme. Meanwhile, the planning committee has expressed gratitude to various churches union, association, individual and in-laws for their contribution and support towards the celebration.
Kawoto VEC reacts to SIT report
DIMAPUR: Reacting to SIT report, which was published in local dailies, the Kawoto village education council (VEC) has clarified that there was no teacher in government primary school, Kawoto village, Zunheboto by the name N. Shenito sl.no.2683 (primary teachers), listed under “genuine” category, and T.Ikali sl.no.741 listed under “absentees” category. Kawoto VEC, in a press statement, has urged the responsible authority to intervene and take immediate action.
Duet, essay competition in Longleng
KOHIMA: Ailüng Kon Kohima will organize open duet and essay writing competition on June 5 at Longleng. The duet competition will be on the theme “peace” and “My dream for my motherland” for the essay competition in Phom dialect. Judgment will be made on the basis of original composition in lyrics and tune for the duet competition. The competition will be open to all bonafide citizens of Phom, with prize money of Rs. 10,000 for first prize, Rs. 7000 for second prize and Rs. 5000 for third prize along with certificate. Hunting and fishing ban in Piphema
DIMAPUR: The Piphema Khenu Krüta Krotho has banned hunting and fishing with the jurisdiction of Piphema for the next two years with effect from May 1, 2010. The union also further informed that heavy penalty will be imposed on the defaulters.

5th Module ASHA training
DIMAPUR: The 5th Module ASHA training for Peren district was conducted at Jalukie town from May 4 to 7. All the ASHAs from the four blocks who missed out, including the new appointees were trained on the topics communication, leadership, negotiation, coordination skills etc. The resource persons during the training were Dr. Tiala deputy CMO Peren, Dr. Khrielasanuo DIO peren, Dr. Tiasunep DTO Peren, Samzai ASHA coordinator (Jalukie block). On the last day, radio sets were distributed to ASHA coordinators for distribution to various ASHAs.
School building in Dungkhao
DIMAPUR: The two room school building constructed under SSA at Dungkhao village under Longleng district was inaugurated by P. Lipok Jamir, DIS Longleng as chief guest on April 15. According to a press statement, the chief guest encouraged the teachers and students to be punctual and sincere towards their duty in order to yield good result. Further, the VEC board expressed gratitude to the department for providing fund for the construction of the school building.

Training on kharif crops
DIMAPUR: Mhonka Farmers’ Club, Domokhia village organized a programme on “meet the expert cum training on kharif crops” in collaboration with NABARD regional office Dimapur. Delivering the keynote address, NABARD RO Dimapur AGM, N. Guiate highlighted the current status of farmers’ clubs in Nagaland and countrywide and encouraged farmers to follow credit counseling, technology & marketing counseling before taking up agriculture as a business venture.
