Ao Senden protest May 9 assault

Ao Senden, apex Ao organization on Tuesday organized a protest rally at Mokokchung against the “assassination attempt” on the lives of three Naga prominent leaders of civil societies on May 9 at Kohima including Chuba Ozukum General Secretary Naga Hoho, G. Vashum joint Secretary and Nepuni Piku, Member Forum for Naga Reconciliation.
Converging at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in the morning, the rally comprising of the public of Mokokchung besides representatives from various tribal and other organizations including Nepali communities, ENPO, Sumi besides thousands of school students marched from sports complex to Police Point where a public meeting was held. The people holding placards that read “GoI Don’t divide the Nagas”, “Naga: One people, One solution”, “Ceasefire is not an answer but a solution” etc.
At the meeting, a lot of prominent members of the town representing various NGOs spoke led by the President Ao Senden Lendinokdang who gave the keynote address. Later, Prof. Lanunungsang, Sosangmeren President Aoer Telongjem Mokokchung, Watimongba Aier President All Ward Union Mkg, Dr. Imlirenla Walling President Watsu Mungdang, S. Bendang Aier President AKM and Bela Bhatia Human Rights Activist and Writer spoke at the program. Later after the meeting, a Public Representation that was appended by the President and Secretary of Ao Senden was submitted to DC Mokokchung. The representation stated that manner and intention of the culprits indicated the handiwork of anti Naga element targeting the leaders who are in the forefront for bringing peace and understanding to the land. The representation also stated that act was a direct challenge to peace and harmony who might have been hired by ‘someone’ to do such anti-social activities taking law in their own hands which should not be left unattended by the state govt. The representation also demanded immediate arrest of the culprits whoever it may and be booked under appropriate sections of the law and give befitting stern punishment.
